Event Description
Moving effortlessly from spoken word to funk and pop, from silk screening to graffiti to acting, Vancouver-based MC Kinnie Starr has been a member of Canada’s creative community since she emerged on the music scene in 1995. The Globe and Mail calls her “raw, funny and definitely an original.” Groundbreaking Inuk throat singer, Tanya Tagaq has brought an ancient Inuit vocal style to new heights and experimental places. She has collaborated with artists as diverse as Bjork and the Kronos Quartet. Like Bjork, Tagaq makes music that is both decidedly unusual and universally appealing on a primal level. This double-bill promises to showcase two of the most original female artists in roots music today.Venue
