As head of Ministry for the last 25 years, Al Jourgensen revolutionized rock ’n’ roll and influenced generations of industrial and metal musicians with his use of tape loops and samples amidst a wall of brutalizing electric guitars. Proof of this can be heard on Ministry’s latest, Rantology, a compilation of songs from just about every phase of the band’s career, including tracks like “No W Redux” (from 2004’s Houses of the Mole), tweaked with the addition of opera singer Martha Cooper. Jourgenson, always moving forward, has been experimenting with faster beats and orchestral music, and an early example of this direction can be heard on Rantology’s new track, “The Great Satan,” which prepares the way for a new 2006 album.
