Event Description
THE HERMIT - Electronic, organic and fully engaging, The Hermit is the creation of electronic explorer Hamish Thomson. Their sound combines technology with traditional instruments on a voyage through new musical landscapes without borders, fronted by the sensual vocals of Paula Toledo. Unconventional sounds originating from a curious collection of objects -- toaster oven, vintage air organ, distorted effects pedals -- combine with real live drums, adding a texture and richness not typically found in electronic-based music. Epic sounds mesh with sublime harmonic resonances and trance-inducing visuals to produce a unique and vivid sensory experience. http://www.hermitmusic.comROSS VEGAS - Few bands can blend melody, groove and mood like Ross Vegas. Formed in 2002 by frontman Tim Bourchier, the Vancouver-based group has toured extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest, and recently released their debut album "Flow". Meshing resonant vocals, pulsing rhythms, and soulful ambience, the result is a sound that is cooly grooving with a nice touch of grit around the edges. http://www.rossvegasmusic.com
MARY ANCHETA and her band showcase a heady mixture of British-influenced soul music, live drum and bass with uplifting anthemic choruses. You may have seen her playing keyboards with Lily Frost, Adrienne Pierce, Bocephus King, The Vincent Black Shadow or sharing the stage with artists like Nickelback, John Mayer, Hawksley Workman, Default, and Emm Gryner. http://www.maryancheta.com
PORTICO combines striking female vocals with tight, angular indie rock and a big sound. Featuring past and present members of Pluteous and Trains Across The Sea, their musical touchstones including Blonde Redhead, Tortoise and Slint. Be sure to come celebrate with this cool, eclectic, independent band as they treat friends and fans to their latest songs from their newest release! http://www.porticonation.com
CHEEK - Hip hop meets jazz, ravaged by funk, with seductive guitar riffs, catchy hooks and flawless flow. Emily Roop's lyrical prowess and sultry vocal style, combined with her well rounded sense of cheek completes this dynamic group.
