March 12 Victoria Folk Music Society weekly gathering, Open Stage 7:30pm, Feature Performers The Hounds of Cuchulain at 9pm, 1110 Hillside Avenue, $8 cash, Everyone welcome! The Hounds of Cuchulain perform a wide selection of Irish, Scottish, English, and original songs in the Celtic tradition, playing with an authenticity and energy which brings the tradition to life. Stylistically inspired by such folk giants as the Dubliners, the Pogues, and the Corries, the group’s performances feature rowdy pub songs, historical ballads, ripping fiddle tunes, engaging storytelling, and haunting airs on the Irish harp.
