A Little Diddy About The Bands:

SKYSCRAPER http://www.skyscrapermusic.com/

The term ‘skyscraper’ was first used in 1794 as a nautical term to describe a triangular skysail of a ship. Later, in 1826, a high-standing horse was called a skyscraper. The present meaning of a tall building was first recorded in 1880.

Sometime later, Skyscraper was formed to fill the void left by the loss of bacon, overstar, and moonshine cowboys. The band Skyscraper will endeavour to challenge the existing definitions of all that we come into contact with. They do so by playing their music. Think Cold Play meets Duran Duran plus Jeff Buckley and creates...this dreamy sounding band...

The album: Pilot - the full length released November 2004. (Independent) Recorded at Rupert Sound with Graham Tuson. Drums recorded at Lab Monkey Studios with Graham Tuson and Shawn Cole. Produced by Skyscraper with Graham Tuson. Mixed by Graham Tuson. Mastered by Todd Simko.

CULT OF GENIUS http://www.cultofgenius.com/

" A big bottom back beat and enough guitar power to blow away crowd after crowd"

CULT OF GENIUS have won over many crowds with their dynamic live set...including a sold out show at the Commodore Ballroom opening for Foreigner. Cult of Genius is rock n roll with no apologies, grooves that soar with endless melody... and you will discover a few life lessons along the way with the honest and revealing song writing of lyrcist Tim Smythe. Think of Big Sugar, Matthew Sweet, and Ted Nugent all in one bad...yeow!!!

SCOTT JACKSON http://www.myspace.com/scottjackson

In 1995, Jackson released his debut CD, "Via Satellite," his first step into the Vancouver music scene. He later formed a band called MK Ultra and recorded the album "Apple." With a hard-driving sound similar to The Cult and early U2, "Apple" spent five weeks on top of the HMV Independent charts. The disc landed the band 2 Music West headline shows as well as an opening slot for Nickelback and local radio play on 99.3 The Fox. It also drew interest from major record labels. Unhappy with the direction that the band's next CD was taking during writing sessions, believing the songs sounded too much like the previous recording, Jackson sent Wong an acoustic demo of "What Are We Waiting For?" Jackson describes the song as the modern-day version of "Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May" by Romantic poet Robert Herrick. Wong listened to the track and phoned Scott the next day, saying that he couldn't get it out of his head and that they should record it. Jackson submitted 20 other songs. Wong picked eight for "My World," which features an all-star lineup of Canadian rock musicians. The CD's tone at times is somber and thoughtful, with tracks like “Beautiful”, "What Are We Waiting For?" and "Black and White." At the same time, the songs "My World," and "Right or Wrong" balance the album with an uplifting mood. Jackson says the album is about moving forward in a difficult time, as war wages and uncertainty consumes the world, and as his family still tries to come to terms with his beloved brother in-law's drowning during a family reunion at Lake Chelan a week before Sept. 11 , 2001.
