OPERA REMIX: OPERA MEETS GOSPEL! 10th Anniversary Gala Concert Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir, Artist In Residence Crystal Hicks and special guests, Chelsea Rus - Soprano, Jonny Michel - Tenor and Dale Throness - Baritone, join together to present the "Good Noise" brand of gospel music and to pay special tribute to one of Canada's acclaimed African Canadian classical singers, Portia White - contralto (1911-1968). White has been called "the singer who broke the colour barrier in Canadian classical music". She was well known for not only her classical repertoire, but also singing Spirituals, the musical genre that bridged songs from Slavery to present day gospel music via the classical concert stage.
