Event Description

Four of the West Coast's premier saxophonists converge on UVic to present a May afternoon recital of light works for quartet. Well known Victoria jazz musician Gordon Clements and Victoria Conservatory colleague Dr. Erik Abbink, UVic saxophone professor Wendell Clanton together with long time associate and gifted pedagogue Ross Ingstrup reunite for a concert featuring a tango sandwiched between jazz inspired pieces and vibrant French neoclassical compositions. Experience original saxophone quartet compositions from the 1800s to the near present on the occasion of the birth of legendary Canadian pianist, composer and arranger Gil Evans.
