Damien Rice’s 2001 debut 0 surprised everyone with the strength of the Irish musician’s songwriting and singing talent. The largely acoustic, ballad-driven, lushly poetic record swiftly established Damien as a performer to watch. Damien’s 2006 follow-up 9 has repeated that first record’s success both critically and commercially. A more ambitious, intense and confident disc, it reached the top of the Irish charts, #4 in the U.K. and #22 in the U.S.

Damien’s music has been featured on TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and the movie Closer, and he is known to donate his time and music to several humanitarian causes. Live, his performances achieve a rare, unforced and unpretentious intimacy.
