A dance band from Venezuela, Los Amigos Invisibles play a blend of disco, acid jazz, and funk mixed with Latin rhythms. The group started out in 1991 as an alternative to the darker and more rock-oriented acts in Caracas, and debuted in 1995 with their album A Typical and Auctoctonal Venezuelan Dance Band. The group brought their funky, danceable sounds to clubs in their hometown for two years before journeying to New York, where they caught the attention of David Byrne. Now, Los Amigos Invisibles are launching a tour to support its latest album, Super Pop Venezuela, a collection of obscure Venezuelan covers, and to bring their eminently danceable rhythms and fun, funky sound to fans and newcomers alike.
