Kicking off the first installment of On the Up ‘n’ Up on May 26 is In Medias Res, The Left, The Februarys and Shukov.
In Medias Res is Incandescent indie rock played with the emotional intensity of a hardcore outfit, while recalling the stately beauty of Radiohead and the Appleseed Cast. www.imr.ca
The Left, winners of the 2005 CFOX Seeds Competition, are a soulful, pop outfit currently working with producer Garth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chevelle). www.theleft.ca
The Februarys brand of indie-rock features crescendos of instrumental acrobatics and three-minute head-boppers. www.myspace.com/thefebruarys
Shukov skillfully blends a fine mixture of spacious, tension-filled, darkly ethereal art rock. www.shukov.com
