Angela Verbrugge first caught listeners’ ears in 2019 with what JazzTimes described as her “captivating debut” album recorded in NYC, and she went on to win the 2020 JazzTimes Readers’ Poll for best female jazz vocalist. The magazine’s review describes that Angela, who takes inspiration from vintage musicals, the swing era, blues, and bebop, has “conspicuously good taste”. In the last 12 months, she released her sophomore album, Love for Connoisseurs, a project consisting entirely of original lyrics for songs in the style of classic jazz and bebop standards. She toured the project across Canada, Germany, and performed at the top jazz clubs in London and Istanbul.
