Mandolin master John Reischman has been a formidable presence in acoustic music for years, and for good reason. Bluegrass Unlimited magazine called the B.C. musician “one of the world’s undisputed masters of the mandolin,” revered for his ability to play genres ranging from bluegrass to jazz to hot swing to Latin and beyond. He played on the Grammy-winning True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe and was a member of the influential Tony Rice Unit, which blended jazz, bluegrass, swing and folk to become one of the seminal groups at the forefront of the “new acoustic music” scene of the early 1980s.
