On Saturday May 13 at 8:00 p.m., Canada's most daring string quartet Quatuor Bozzini will perform a concert featuring :blurt by Jennifer Walshe inspired by Piet Mondriaan's Trafalgar Square. "The idea of writing solely pitched-based music for string quartet did not make sense to me; it seemed like trying to think in a completely different language in which I had a vocabulary which consisted only of adverbs" Walshe expressed to The Guardian in an interview on November 11, 2010. To expand the vocabulary of this pieces she found herself experimenting with the instruments of the quartet to bring together :blurt described in her own words as "a noisy thicket of scratches and muffled shrieks, knocks and dim sinister tickings".
