THE ANDRE CHRYS BAND Vancouver roots rock with plenty of soul, a touch of twang and stellar songwriting. The Georgia Straight said: Andre Chrys is a singer-songwriter with a taste for the sort of barstool wisdom and dirty-old-town laments that used to be the sole domain of Tom Waits. The lyrics of "Guardian Angel (You've Been Drinking on the Job)", for instance, are cute in a way that the author of "The Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me)" might appreciate, even if the title gives everything away. "The Modification Song" is equally clever, with its observations of our constant drive--and utter failure--to perfect ourselves.
