Joe Locke is considered by many to be the most gifted vibraphonist in jazz today. “He’s a unique and adventurous musical voice,” lauds the San Francisco Bay Guardian. AllAboutJazz.com raves that “Joe Locke might just be this generation’s Milt Jackson.” Demonstrating his range, Locke has performed with a diverse group of musicians including Kenny Barron, Jimmy Scott, the Mingus Big Band, and Cecil Taylor. He was recently voted the No. 1 vibist in Down Beat magazine’s Critics Poll. Joining Locke in this cross-border collaboration is Vancouver’s smokin’ hard-bop sextet Ugetsu led by drummer Bernie Arai with Steve Kaldestad sax, Brad Turner trumpet, Rod Murray trombone, Ross Taggart piano, André Lachance bass.
