Kitangus is Gareth Hurwood, Melody Benbow, Leah Winters, Alex MacCuaig and Terry James. These fine performers have been exciting audiences with their unique blend of traditional and contemporary Celtic music and song for many years. Due to their diverse cultural backgrounds and their wide musical interests, Kitangus' music comes out unique. In the face of traditional purists and many Celtic cultural biases, Kitangus coined their own term for their music and style, 'WEST COAST CELTIC'. It is a reflection of the influences that Celtic culture have gone through in space and time to get all the way from Western Europe in centuries past to the Pacific Ocean in the 21st Century.
