Event Description
Violapalooza is an annual celebration of all things viola, the underappreciated cousin to the more outgoing violin. Remember, the viola is the composers instrument, played by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and John Kale (of the Velevt Underground).This year features Kenji Fuse and Chris Prince, both Violists with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, and special guests Laura Backstrom on the Bass-Viola (more commonly known as the cello).
Also featuring jazz-pianist Karel Roessingh.
Program will feature the Eyeglass Duo by Beethoven, viola duos by Bartok, Ray Davies and Telemann, and more.
This is a special benefit for the Island Biodiesel Co-op.
