Wooden Nickel Jass Band

The Sacramento-based Wooden Nickel Jass Band is not your parent's jazz band. You will find a multitude of musical styles here, all couched in traditional jazz, but not always exactly true to some people's expectations of what a dixieland band should sound like. We like to take old traditional tunes and see what hip, hop, happenin' creations we can make of them. Sometimes we leave them alone, and sometimes we bruise them terribly. However, we always try to be true to our concept of the essence of jazz: invention, communication, and fun.
