Event Description
Citing Primal Scream, the Cure and Stone Roses as inspiration, Mobile has also been compared to Franz Ferdinand, the Killers and Hot Hot Heat. Mobile’s debut full-length, Tomorrow Starts Today, features the incendiary lead single “Montreal Calling” and an album’s worth of passionate, confident music that comes from discipline, passion, and lots of wood-shedding. Stabilo’s long-awaited full-length major label debut, Happiness & Disaster features the kind of stirring songs, touching vocals and sturdy melodies fans have come to expect, including a new version of “Everybody”. Check out Mobile co-headlining with Stabilo live in Vancouver.Mobile spent three years gestating in their Montreal warehouse space, rehearsing until the quintet had everything just right. Childhood friends, the members already had the chemistry it takes to be a tight, volatile unit, and once Mobile emerged from its self-imposed exile, word-of-mouth about the band’s dynamic, full-throttle performances spread rapidly. And then the band did the unthinkable—it moved to Toronto at a time when international attention was focussing on Montreal. In its adopted city, word spread as fast as it had in the band’s hometown, and Universal eagerly signed Mobile.

Formed in Vancouver in 1996, Stabilo (originally known as Stabilo Boss) immediately set about crafting its sound. Drawing on rock, jazz and folk, the quartet began drawing a grassroots following while developing songs that appealed to mainstream and indie fans, along with jazz lovers and Deadheads. Selling over 5000 copies of its two self-released records, this ambitious and hardworking unit drew the attention of EMI, which released Cupid?, a seven-song calling card, in 2004. Spearheaded by the crowd favourite “Everybody”, the disc broadened the band’s already wide appeal, paving the way for Happiness & Disaster.
Stabilo’s long-awaited full-length major label debut, Happiness & Disaster features the kind of stirring songs, touching vocals and sturdy melodies fans have come to expect, including a new version of “Everybody”, the leadoff single and video “Flawed Design”, and powerful tracks like “Kidding Ourselves”, “Beautiful Madness” and “Don’t Look in Their Eyes”. Don’t miss this exciting, talented act as they bring their unifying modern rock to audiences all over North America in support of Happiness & Disaster.
