Event Description
"Strunz & Farah have distinguished themselves as two of the planet's most gifted acoustic guitarists. With their incendiary blend of flamenco color, driving Afro-Latin rhythms, and dazzling nylon string virtuosity...Strunz & Farah are spectacular live. For guitar lovers, the experience can be downright apocalyptic."- Guitar Player Magazine
After a ten-year absence, the planet's most astonishing guitar duo is coming back to town! On Friday March 3, Strunz and Farah will be taking their audience on a musical journey to the worlds of Latin America and the Middle East with their new intimate, yet dynamic sound.
In their 24 years of performing together, Strunz & Farah have created an entirely new expression for the acoustic guitar. From Costa Rica and Iran respectively, Jorge Strunz and Ardeshir Farah have brought the cultural richness of their native lands to their original compositions. Their virtuosity, complex rhythms and on-the-spot improvisations have profoundly influenced guitarists all over the world.
Strunz and Farah’s latest CD "Desert Guitars" is a compilation of Middle Eastern-influenced compositions highlighting material that reflects their long partnership together. On March 21, 2006 the duo will be releasing a new CD called "Jungle Guitars", a colorful compilation of pieces inspired by neotropical rainforests and landscapes.
Strunz and Farah will also be doing a free Long & McQuade guitar seminar the night before the show on Thursday March 2, at 7 p.m. at Mason's Building (2301 Granville St.). Sign up is recommended: e-mail vancouver@long-mcquade.com or call 604-734-4886 beginning in February.
