This fall the Salt Spring Baroque Music Society presents the ART ISLE Concert Series. This series will bring concerts of Baroque Music to audiences of Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, and will feature world-renowned musicians from Italy, Marco Vitale and Romeo Ciuffa.On Tuesday, September 28th ART ISLE presents Contrasto Armonico in an chamber concert of Baroque Music at the Duncan United Church, 246 Ingram Street, Duncan at 7:00 pm. Members of Contrasto Armonico are Marco Vitale (Italy) on harpsichord, Romeo Ciuffa (Italy) on flutes, Paul Luchkow (BC) on violin, and Kerry Graham (BC) on bassoon. All musicians will be performing on period instruments. Both Marco Vitale and Romeo Ciuffa have stellar musical careers, performing, directing, recording, and teaching internationally. Marco performs regularly with Jordi Savall’s ensembles Le Concert des Nations & Hespèrion XXI. Romeo is a sought-after baroque flute and recorder player, and a recording artist specializing in Seventeenth and Eighteenth century European music. This will be a memorable evening of live 17th and 18th century Baroque music!
Tickets are $25 in advance. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. The concert begins at 7:00. Ticket sales will be limited to 50% capacity of the hall; audience members will be asked to provide proof of full vaccination, and asked to wear masks. Hand sanitizer will be available, and steps will be taken to enhance ventilation as much as possible. Any additional Covid-19 protocols recommended by the Provincial Health Office at the time of the concert will be adhered to. If the concert is cancelled due to Covid-19, tickets will be fully refunded.
