Event Description

Saturday night, August 21, Augmented Trio Promotions and Lumera Productions present RESONANCE performs Amor, an evening of Spanish music exploring all aspects of love. This is our third concert in the August Tunes of Passion: 4 Unforgettable Nights on Triangle Mountain online concert series.

This free concert (by donation online) will be streamed online from 7 – 8 pm (PDT) via this link: https://augmentedtriopromotions.com/august-tunes-of-passion

RESONANCE ensemble members Lisa Tinney (soprano) and Kathryn Le Gros (piano) love to create themed concerts featuring fellow musicians. As Spanish music often explores the theme of Amor, Kathryn and Lisa have gone back through four centuries of "love songs" to develop a program that offers a look at the many facets of love. Kathryn and Lisa have asked Joshua Amendt-Moylan to join them on classical guitar to help create “that unique and wonderful Spanish sound.”

RESONANCE performs Amor includes music from Spanish classical and pop repertoire, and even a hint of musical theatre, to show a wide variety of musical perspectives about love. This concert includes works by de Falla, Rodrigo, Alvarez, and Jesus Guridi, and is sung entirely in Spanish.

Lisa Tinney holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Alberta and a Master of Arts degree in Classical Voice and History from the University of Victoria. Lisa has performed as a soloist in the Victoria area for the past 30 years, and toured Western Canada for several years as a backup singer with the Roy Orbison tribute band, The Lonely. She enjoys ensemble performance, and has sung in operetta, dinner theatre, and musical theatre reviews. Recent performances include a Schubertiade with Kathryn Le Gros and friends and was a member of the chamber chorus in Vancouver Island Performers Guild’s recent performance of Handel’s Messiah. Lisa is a founding member of Melissima, an a capella women’s trio performing music from madrigals to musical theatre and is a long-standing member of the Norton Singers. A member of the local chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Lisa has been teaching voice in the Victoria area for over thirty years.

After graduating from Wilfrid Laurier’s Bachelor of Music program with a major in two instruments, Kathryn Le Gros co-founded (and managed) the Kitchener Waterloo Chamber Orchestra and was a regular recitalist in southern Ontario. Since moving to Victoria in the 1990s, Kathryn has played in classical and jazz trios, quartets, and quintets, as well as performed with singers and other instrumentalists. Recent performances on both clarinet and piano include An Die Musik (an evening of Schubert music), Amor (an evening of Spanish music) and Summer Fayre (light summer and garden music) with Resonance, Spring Romantique with cello and singers, classical repertoire with the Aerie Trio, light jazz with Broke and Blue, and jazz with 5 Shadez of Blue.

Saskatchewan born, Joshua Amendt-Moylan is an inspired creative who has a passion for creating music with others. He began learning guitar at an early age, experienced performing with a band in high school, then later moved to Victoria to pursue education in musical arts at the University of Victoria. It was there that Josh fell in love with Spanish and Classical music, leading him to invest more time into learning. Josh is continuing his studies with Alexander Dunn, as well as instructing various styles of guitar at the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
