The This:
The This began as a "fake band" created by singer/drummer Evan Matthiesen, who recorded their first few songs under the moniker in 2014 in his bedroom studio. Rather than leaning into a bedroom pop style, the EP instead had the illusion of being a lively and energetic full band featuring only live instruments played by himself. Soon Evan recruited longtime friends Jeremy “Jimbo” Rai on bass, and Seth Eggler on drums to become a real band and record a string of singles that the band toured across western Canada in 2018 and 2019, where they honed their skills and developed their sound, blending punk, indie rock and powerpop into their signature style. During this time the band also made their first trip across the pond to Europe, touring the Netherlands in 2019.
After releasing a 7” record on Vancouver label Kingfisher Bluez (Peach Pit, Winona Forever) the band underwent a lineup change after Seth left for health reasons, prompting Evan to switch to drums as their friend Reid Blakley of the Plodes took on guitar duties. Although 2020 had setbacks, The This spent their time in lockdown self-producing their debut album to be released in 2021 on Kingfisher Bluez, which they will bring next year on their first tour across the country.

Wet Cigarette:
Wet Cigarette plays punk rock music in Victoria BC. They play a mix of drums, guitar, bass, voice and can also sing. They have played in several public and private parties across Canada. They have toured the United States, England, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Finland and now have a Facebook page. Wet Cigarette is a cool band. They play punk music for the little people.
The rules: -don't stop a show for them -don't get suspended -don't get fucked up on copious amounts of medication -don't be a dick.
Tho they have set times for their shows, they often play multiple times in a night. So use that to your advantage if you have a favor to ask them. Their music style is raw, aggressive, no-holds-barred… No fuck that. For these 5 crazy kids, the war is real. Its thick crust crusty crustcore crust and equal parts race car, Marcellus Jackson, and modern punk, original inspired vocals, jarring country charm, fuzzy riffs and dramatic rock and roll rhythms, as well as some nod to folk, ska, and original style straight outta the wild west that is India. A literal and figurative portrayal of life in the wild. They began their career at the Blackwater Pistol Club and started strong. Their sound is heavily influenced by hardcore punk. Their songs include "badeblades saved my life", "big beans", "FRANK BAMBINO", and "International Googly Moogly." The band is also known for their lyrical content, especially the infamous lines such as "Shout out to the dumber zebras."
