Event Description
After spending the past several years promoting Vancouver Island artists, producing the Vancouver Island Music Awards, and building the Island-based community record label Mighty Speck Records, James Kasper will finally release his first full-length album of new material in 5 years (since 2009's "small town gods & devils"). The new album is called "In The Dust." This album release event will also be the launch of Kasper's first book of poems. And to round out the multi-media event, there will also be an exhibit of Kasper's paintings.Doors open at 7pm. Show starts at 7:30pm. It's open to all ages AND it's licensed, so the best of both worlds.
The show will feature both long-time and newer Kasper collaborators...
* Cellist & multi-instrumentalist Larry Burke
* Guitarist & vocalist Jonny Miller
* Vocalist Patricia Garner (Little Nectar)
* Percussionist Chris "Magic" Meglic
Tickets are available in advance for $10 at Lyle's Place on Yates St. and at Lacey-Lou Tapas Lounge Inc. on Broad St. or at the door on the night of the show for $12.
The new album was engineered & co-produced by Eric Hogg of Soma Sound. It will be available at the event for $10.

“James Kasper soon entrances your ears, and it is fair to draw comparison with the likes of Chris Isaak, only with rather more tears and whiskey...Warm, melancholic voice.”
- Bluesbunny.com
"With the burning wail of his harmonica and his smouldering lyrics, Kasper artfully wrenches empathy from listeners...the noir side adds depth of character and individuality to his music, helping to distinguish him from the thousands of other singer-songwriters in the country roots genre."
