Opera Mariposa presents Puccini's compelling tale of loss and redemption, re-imagined by director Sergio Augusto Flores and starring acclaimed and award-winning artists from across North America. Set in a ravaged Europe during World War II, this groundbreaking production features a powerful new interpretation along with the timeless, transcendent music of what Puccini considered his finest opera.Suor Angelica will feature two dream casts of emerging performers, including award-winners from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Canadian Music Competition and Vancouver Opera. The production includes a concert of Italian arias, with highlights from Madama Butterfly, La bohème, La traviata and many more. Don’t miss the riveting new production from the company whose shows have been hailed as "a masterpiece" (Review Vancouver), "an extraordinary feat" (North Shore News) and "a stroke of genius" (The Voice)!
