Event Description
"Master Class: 2 Dope Boys in a Cadillac" :: 12:00 - 2:00 PM :: $25 (limited availability)Local favourites, 2 Dope Boys in a Cadillac, will guide you through the process of co-writing a poem with another person. Learn to transform any piece of writing or idea into an epic multi-voiced performance.
"With Great Poetry Comes Great Responsibility" :: 2:00 - 4:00 PM :: Free
Beyond the rush of lighting up the mic, poets' words carry power - and as Spider-Man's Uncle Ben would remind us that "with great power comes great responsibility." So what is the responsibility of the poet, and how does it play out in their work on stage? From being oral historians to carrying out direct action, poets can play an integral role in community, causes, and politics. Join us as we present a panel with poets whose work demonstrates the power of poetry to affect change.
"Tomfowlery" :: 4:00 - 6:00 PM :: $10 (regular) $5 (student)
A celebration of Dada, surrealism, and sound, hosted by rockstar poet and local celebrity, Twiggy Starbuck. Warning: the spoken weird in this showcase will dance through multiple dimensions until your grey matter transforms into a kaleidoscope of images from the shadowy depths of the subconscious!
"CFSW Poetry Slam: Bouts #4 and #6" :: 7:00 - 9:00 PM, 9:00 - 11:00 PM :: $12 (regular) $7 (student)
Four teams compete in a four-round poetry slam judged by the audience. Poetry slam is a competition in which poets present original work without the use of costumes, props, or musical accompaniment, within a three minute time limit.
FESTIVAL PASSES: $75 (regular) $45 (student) - Go to www.CFSW.ca to purchase.
