The fabulously hip and swinging Jill Townsend Big Band along with Canada's preeminent vocalist Denzal Sinclaire, will pay tribute to the 1966 recording, Sinatra at the Sands with Count Basie and his Orchestra.
This recording is described as "a blend of superb chemistry, sparkling arrangements, infallible singing and contagious energy" and considered to be "...the definitive portrait of Frank Sinatra in the '60s" by reviewer Stephen Thomas Erlewine. Denzal Sinclaire http://www.denzalsinclaire.com/ , known for his rich baritone voice and elegant delivery of lyrics, is a multiple Juno nominee and National Jazz Award winner. He was awarded Best Male Vocalist by Jazz Report Magazine for four consecutive years.
The Jill Townsend Big Band http://www.jilltownsend.com/ features several Juno award winning musicians & outstanding soloists including Brad Turner, Bill Coon, Dennis Esson, Dave Robbins, Rod Murray and many more. JTBB received critical acclaim for their CD "Tales from the Sea" and were invited to perform in New York at the 2009 IAJE Conference as Canada's representative. The Jill Townsend Big Band was twice nominated for "Big Band of the Year" in the National Jazz Awards.
