Event Description

Eucalyptus is a seven piece instrumental ensemble from Toronto, Ontario. The group plays original jazz compositions by renowned alto-saxophonist Brodie West. Incorporating aspects of music from Mali, Sierra Leone, Algeria and The Caribbean their adventurous sound blurs the line between dance music and the avant-garde. West’s compositions are rich with languid rhythms, lyrical melodies, syncopated horn lines and intricate ensemble interplay.

One can hear hints of Sun Ra, Duke Ellington and The Art Ensemble of Chicago. For this ensemble West has assembled an all star cast of long-time associates, all distinguished members of Toronto’s vibrant and well documented creative music scene.
