Event Description

Minute Funk's One Year Anniversary Show featuring OLD ROGER, BLACKED OUT, TROPHY WIFE, CRIMSON ROOTS, WHISKEY CHIEF, and ZOOMAFLOOME
Old Roger:
Old Roger makes music; calculated, yet in the moment. By fusing their favourite influences ranging from rock, metal, and punk, and extending their genre into an array of blues, jazz, funk, psychedelic, and classical sounds, Old Roger strives to capture the feelings and thoughts that define who they are, and what surrounds them. In early 2009, the group not only parted ways with their bassist amidst the unofficial release of their first EP, but also organized their first tour across most of Canada; a thirty nine show venture that allowed the group to both discover, and be inspired by their newly found roles in a three-piece. By alternating roles on guitar, bass, and vocals, Rob and Jason have captured a unique dynamic that has rid the song-writing duo of any previous limitations. Joe play drums.
Blacked Out:
Originally hailing from Banff, Alberta, Blacked Out is a three-piece punk/thrash band who now calls Vancouver, British Columbia home. With fast, punchy songs, constant touring, and a genuine love for havin' a good time, Blacked Out has built a strong and loyal fan base around Western Canada. Originally created by Dicker and Morgan in a dirty basement apartment, the band attracted cops, angry neighbours, and Binky the deer. Finding a bass player in Banff wasn't easy for them, but eventually some guy named Wade came over to jam and drink a few beers. The cops were there faster than ever, Wade had the worst car on the planet, and Blacked Out was born. 2009 saw the boys release their debut, full-lenth album entitled "Life Beyond the Line", and all their moms kinda liked it.
Trophy Wife:
Trophy Wife put the mental back in instrumental, combining shredding guitar solos, funk bass, Latin rhythms into a contagious blend that has garnered fans at venues across Western Canada. Trophy Wife is prog-rock in it's most virtuosic and shamelessly entertaining form. Foregoing a singer to steal all the glory for themselves, Trophy Wife dazzles the ear, pleases the eye, moves the ass and melts the faces of every audience member lucky enough to witness such an intense musical spectacle.
Crimson Roots:
Crimson Roots = epic sludge funkery, raw doggin' giver stylings, groove slop on top, doom guitar growl with a monster riff engine. Crimson Roots has been churning out slick licks since the dawn of the year 2007 and doesn't plan on stopping 'till the apocalypse.
Whiskey Chief:
Out of the ashes of Vancouver's revered Fuzzcat rises a funky band whose first love is playing together. With very little planned and no fear of the crowd these guys take command at every show, laying down anything from funk to rock to blues all made up in front of your eyes...
