First off, this show is going to be HUGE FUN!
When Ron Reyes came to me and we discussed a one-off, fun evening and I started to put the bug into his ear about doing a one-off show, we never envisioned the way it would evolve into this monster evening of MUSIC – ART & FILM! It was pretty easy to get people on board once we started to get momentum and it snowballed into this massive multimedia event!
Rest assured, this is not just a musical ode to Ron, but will feature some of Ron’s close Vancouver friends and art/musical family showing the love we feel for him, and in return, he will melt some faces with the Ron Reyes Band (whom I can’t even begin to list the countless bands these five fellas have played in or are playing in. (Really, we don’t have enough room on facebook for them alone – look at the poster).
So, what do you get for your TEN BUCKS…value, variety and HUGE FUN! It all comes back to HUGE FUN! We wanted this event to be ALL AGES, and we wanted it to be BIG…thanks to the Rickshaw Theatre (David, Matt and, back in the germination stage, Malice) we were allowed to have a venue large enough for our ever-evolving soiree. The timetable is TIGHT, and you will have to by mindful of the SCHEDULE or you will be SCREWED.
Doors will open at 7pm for the Main Event! There will be an Invite Only event prior but the Main Event will allow you in at 7pm.
- The artwork of Jimmy Cummins, Mad Dog and the photography of Bev Davies will be on view and for sale in the venue! Please arrive at 7pm to view!
The MUSIC portion of the evening will start at 8pm SHARP, finish at MIDNIGHT, and proceed as follows:
8:05 – 8:35 I Braineater
8:45 – 9:20 Little Guitar Army
9:30 – 10:05 Modernettes
10:20- 11:10 The Ron Reyes Band
11:20 – MID The Jolts
At midnight, we’ll do a quick changeover and then, we can sit down in the theatre seats and experience “Midnight Movie Madness” as VDOC screens archival film by Doreen Grey! Regale in viewing excerpts from Rock Against Prisons (1979) Hardcore 81, the DKs and K-Tels circa 1979 and, a never-viewed surprise - specially prepared, just for this event! in A kick ass way to close the evening. Donations to VDOC’s restoration project – these films are decaying and need to be digitized as soon as possible to preserve their integrity – are encouraged…every little bit helps!
We also encourage you to donate a loonie or toonie to our evening’s selected charity INVISIBLE CHILDREN (selected by Ron’s daughter) which you can read about here:

See, I told you…this is going to be HUGE FUN!!!!!!
Thanks
Doug
