Event Description
. Saturday, May 8th IMU presents BLACK WIZARD, EMERALDS, GRASS CITY & WILDILDELIFE @ PUB 340, 340 Cambie Street. Doors 8pm / Purchase advance tickets online @ http://www.imuproductions.com
BLACK WIZARD is ready to melt faces with their huge psychedelic riffs and even bigger harmonies. Featuring former members of Spreadeagle, Onslaught and Whyte Hott, they have all the obligatory guitar shredding, vocal yowling and percussion pounding needed to get the blood flowing. http://www.myspace.com/blackwizardcom
EMERALDS - Seattle-based Emeralds combine fragments of '60s and '70s hard rock with a bit of progressive rock, a dash of '80s post punk, and more contemporary sludge and drone metal. From pounding tribal drums to piercing post-punk guitar lines, their songs are epic pieces of metal that build and build until they erupt at the apex, sweeping you away on a bed of molten lava. http://www.myspace.com/emeraldsoccult
GRASS CITY is a cathartic, foot-stompin' jug of musical moonshine -- soul-stirring Southern Doom Blues of the highest order. Their live show is a bruising, head-thrashing, tear-jerking experience that bulldozes the audience into heavenly oblivion with a thick Skynyrd-esque three-guitar assualt, scratched whiskey vocals and a Sabbathian worship of the Riff. It sounds like rock and roll savin' your soul, the sound of meat hittin' the grill. It sounds like goddamn GRASS CITY! http://www.myspace.com/grasscity
WILDILDELIFE - With a dizzying amount of distortion, molasses-thick bass lines, and cavernous drums, Wildildelife's music is pulverizing, spaced-out and amazingly catchy, flattening everything in its path. Their intricate melodies and furious riffage are remarkably balanced with atmospheric passages, a juxtaposition that translates beautifully to live settings as they transform into a fierce six-legged, six-armed, long-haired, drug-addled behemoth. http://www.myspace.com/wildildlife
