Event Description
. Friday, April 23rd IMU presents PAINTED CITIES, BAD FATE, QUIET KIDS & ALLOUETTE LAKE AND PALMER @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Doors 8pm / Cover $10 @ the doorPAINTED CITIES are one girl and three boys who make danceable, fun, quirky, emotional music that feels good and draws from a wide range of funk, folk, rock and jazz elements. They sound like all the characters at a fair who grew up and became part of the carnival: different and twisted but unique and beautiful in their own ways. Their infectious, inventive songs have been heard at venues ranging from music festivals to all-ages community halls to the grittiest bars of downtown Vancouver. http://www.myspace.com/paintedcities
BAD FATE catch you off guard within the first minute of their set, drawing you up to the front while forgetting everything that was happening prior to this sudden magical moment. It's an incredible wall of sound with triple guitar harmonies, furious drumming and perfect vocal accompaniment. http://www.myspace.com/thebadfate
QUIET KIDS - Influenced by pizza, science, beer, dungarees, the colour black and the numbers 3 and 11, Quiet Kids are a local alt/rock band featuring Jay Hosking (vocals/keyboard), Ronnie Ellis (guitar), Mike Bowd (bass) and Geoffrey Stratton (roadie... just kidding, he's the drummer!) http://www.myspace.com/thesequietkids
ALLOUETTE LAKE AND PALMER can't decide if Allouette should have one L or not. Songs of love, weird acts of love, the Love Boat, and sailor bars. Featuring the entwined vocals of Trevor Hargreaves (Huge Manatease) and Heather Ramsay (Awkward Stage), and rounded out by Manateasers Christian Chaumont and Paolo Cepeda on drums and guitar and Geoff Gauthier (The Drycleaners) on bass, this band is a tender mix of dirty lyrics, pop harmonics and folked up vocals. http://www.myspace.com/allouettelakeandpalmer
