Event Description
. Saturday, March 6th IMU presents MYSTERY POINT, BULLETS OVER BEAUTY, The SAINTS COLLAPSE & TIMOTHY @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Doors 8pm / Cover $10 @ the doorMYSTERY POINT is a four-piece rock band from White Rock, originally known as Long Story Short. With a mix of alternative, punk, pop, jazz, ska and acoustic, their versatile sound directly reflects their expansive scope of influences. Mystery Point transcends the limits of conventional music, mixing bits and pieces from their diverse backgrounds while offering their own unique sound that anyone can appreciate. http://www.myspace.com/mysterypointmusic
BULLETS OVER BEAUTY - This powerhouse dark alt-rock combo is a combustible combination of modern rhythm-driven blues and rock influences. Formed as a means to fill a void by members of Painted Self, A Murder of Crows, CrankRiot and An Oracle, Bullets Over Beauty have continued into an obsession of musical camaraderie. Bringing emotive vocal stylings together with a powerful dual guitar assault to create a uniquely memorable musical experience, they will soothe you with angelic melodies before punishing you with malicious musical persistence. http://www.myspace.com/bulletsoverbeauty
The SAINTS COLLAPSE - Originally writing and performing under the name This Week In History, this Vancouver-based rock outfit re-emerged as The Saints Collapse with a dark, film-inspired, genre-hopping EP, "The Seven Days of Fire". From guitarist Colin Pattullo's origins in shred-driven guitar rock to vocalist Jesse Castillo's pre-occupation with video game soundtracks and horror film scores, the band's chaotic range of influences is well represented as a euphonious whole. Offering material that strikes as eerily familiar while maintaining a unique sense of perspective, The Saints Collapse have delivered a rock record uninhibited by preconceived ideas of what rock music is supposed to be. http://www.myspace.com/thesaintscollapse
TIMOTHY are four gentlemen from Coquitlam, a mountainous region favoured dearly by the clouds and dead to the sun, yet by all accounts unspurious in its claim to beauty. Being reared in such conditions they are given to both cheerfulness and melancholy, the latter overcome by the former, incandescing into the evening in a movement of sound mighty as an unbridled storm, watering the thirsting gardens of the human heart. For those of you in a semi-conscious slumber, allow us to introduce ourselves. http://www.myspace.com/singingtimothy
