Event Description
. Friday, February 5th IMU presents MIAOU MIAOU, CITIZENS FOR AIRPLANES, WAY TO GO EINSTEIN & MATTHEW MEI @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Doors 8pm / Cover $10 @ the doorMIAOU MIAOU one part rugged, uncouth, kootenay woodsman and one part sleek, stylish european. Neither of them own cats, but they would like to some day. Maybe in a year or two. They both like camping and pizza and talking about the end of the world. They also have a lot of fun playing in their rock music band. http://www.myspace.com/MeowMeowRock
CITIZENS FOR AIRPLANES - Built on captivating songwriting and inspiring, high energy shows, Citizens For Airplanes meshes addictive choruses with a fresh take on established rock elements into songs that demand repeating. Their live performances radiate a blinding chemistry, giving the impression that they've been playing together for years, with capacity crowds dancing and singing along at numerous local venues. Breaking away from the usual teenage angst songs, their songs boast a wealth of captivating guitar and keyboard riffs, playful and reflective lyrics with occasionally cheeky overtones, and tight, anthemic harmonies. Driving bass lines provide escape for listeners weary of the redundant music encounters of typical commercial songs, while heavy back beats encourage vigorous head bobbing and hip movement. http://www.myspace.com/CitizensForAirplanes
WAY TO GO, EINSTEIN is a solid modern rock act that blends superb guitars and piano with creative songwriting. Favourably compared to acts like Muse and Coldplay, they recently released their second CD "Pseudonym". Building on the buzz of their first release "Hide and Seek Champion", their new album promises to bring plenty more attention, stimulated ears, moved souls, and ironic band name loving fans. "Their melodies soar to the heavens, backed by lush beds of reverb-treated guitars and synthesizers" - Georgia Straight http://www.myspace.com/WayToGoEinstein
MATTHEW MEI - Having traveled the world as the son of a preacher man, Matt's initial introduction to the world of music was his dads classical, old blues and folk records, but it was his struggles in life and his soulful growth that fueled his desire to write emotional and heartfelt songs. Matt teamed up with Jonathan Anderson (Jonathan Inc.) at Buena Vista Studios to create a thoughtful album that showcased some of his favorite songs he had written over the years. http://www.MatthewMei.com
