Event Description

This is going to be one of the best kept secrets of Victoria's 5th Anniversary Ska Festival for those that usually attend known ska names.

THE DEBONAIRES (RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, USA)

The Debonaires from Riverside, Calfornia have been playing awesome traditional up beat ska and reggae for over 9 years. Kip (also from LA's The Skeletones) add the perfect touch to these 9 pieces of wonder. The Debonaires will be perfect for those looking for a mix of soul, jazz, reggae, R&B, funk and traditional ska.

WESTBOUND TRAIN (Boston,USA)

Westbound Train (Stubborn Records Recording Artists) have a revamped and determined 8 piece group that specialize in ska, R&B, soul, reggae and dancehall grooves. This band are known for their awesome harmonies and melodic flow. Obi Fernandez (lead singer) gives the band this touch. This band continues to get more and more noteriety as they play in city after city with nothing but rave reviews.

GENERAL RUDIE (Montreal, Canada)

General Rudie are back for their second time at Victoria's Annual Ska Festival since their last appearance back in 2002 with the Pietasters. General Rudie bring brand new material to the table and another member (a guitar player) adding to their already tight sound. General Rudie contrast both The Debonaires and Westbound Train in that they play extremely danceable high energy ska with pop, jazz and reggae influences.

THE KILTLIFTERS (Nanaimo, BC)

Always an Island favourite! The Kiltlifters come with big hearts and new material to this year's 5th Anniversary Edition of Victoria Ska Festival. They will be playing tracks from their new CD "Serious George" as well as ones from older presses.

BURNING RHYTHM (GLOW STICK POI)

Enjoy the sites and sounds of Burning Rhythm Entertainment as they dazzle us with Glow Stick POI before the last band!
