Event Description

. Friday, December 4th IMU presents IMU HOLIDAY SHOW! Featuring TROPHY WIFE, MAD SHADOW, The MATINÉE & FERA @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Doors 8pm / Cover $10 @ the door
TROPHY WIFE put the mental back in instrumental, combining shredding guitar solos, funk bass, Latin rhythms and jazz-classical piano into a contagious blend that has garnered fans at venues like The Roxy, Media Club, Buffalo Club and Columbia. Comprised of Louie Anyos, the most unsung guitar hero on the planet, Darryl Greer on bass, the funkiest white boy on the planet, and the hairiest, most rocking drummer on the planet, Pablo Stolowicz, Trophy Wife is prog-rock in it's most virtuosic and shamelessly entertaining form. Foregoing a singer to steal all the glory for themselves, Trophy Wife aims to dazzle the ear, please the eye, move the ass, melt the face and do other unmentionable things to every other body part you can think of. http://www.myspace.com/trophywifeband
MAD SHADOW - Electric, charged and explosive, Mad Shadow features guitarist Danny Sveinson, who many have exclaimed will be one of the next great rock guitar legends. Bringing the thunder of heavy '70s rock into the new millennium, Mad Shadow leave crowds speechless with their style, energy and obvious talent. The combination of Danny's hook-laden riffs, singer Erik Olufson's charismatic, one-of-a-kind stage presence and the fist-pounding rhythms provided by bassist Tyler Lindgrin and drummer Josh McDonald never fail to leave the crowd wanting more. The depth of these rockers' ability to break out, sending Danny into blistering solos and jaw-dropping jams of their best known songs, is sure to drop you right in the middle of the rock and roll inferno that is Mad Shadow. http://www.myspace.com/madshadowband
The MATINÉE is emerging as one of the West Coast's premier independent bands. Blending a passion for fine ale and finely crafted tunes, they offer a unique spin on a roots rock sound that is quickly attracting both national and international audiences. Writing songs that paint pictures of empty bottles and broken hearts, broken bottles and empty hearts, their collection of songs vividly comes to life. As they continue with their hard-nosed, DIY, blue collar work ethic, there is little doubt that this show is worth the price of admission. http://www.myspace.com/thematinee
FERA - Stephanie and Courtney Fera, twin sisters from a gifted Coquitlam musical family, are emerging as one of Vancouver's leading alt country rock duos. Playing guitar since the age of 8 and immersed in music ranging from the Everly Brothers to Fleetwood Mac, they found a sincere passion and ability for songwriting coupled with a drive to succeed. Their evocative lyrics and intricate harmonies are deservedly catching lots of attention on the West Coast -- and increasingly throughout Canada! http://www.myspace.com/feramusic
