Event Description
. Friday, October 23rd IMU presents PAPER LIONS, ALLOUETTE LAKE AND PALMER, WAY TO GO EINSTEIN & DAVE PHILLIPS @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Doors 9pm / Cover $10 @ the doorALLOUETTE LAKE AND PALMER can't decide if Allouette should have one L or not. Songs of love, weird acts of love, the Love Boat, and sailor bars. Featuring the entwined vocals of Trevor Hargreaves (Huge Manatease) and Heather Ramsay (Awkward Stage), and rounded out by Manateasers Christian Chaumont and Paolo Cepeda on drums and guitar and Geoff Gauthier (The Drycleaners) on bass, this band is a tender mix of dirty lyrics, pop harmonics and folked up vocals. http://www.myspace.com/allouettelakeandpalmer
PAPER LIONS are composed of ten time East Coast Music award nominated artists John MacPhee, Rob MacPhee, Colin Buchanan and David Cyrus MacDonald. They have performed for tens of thousands of people, earning critical acclaim and regional and national awards including 2005's Pop Recording of the Year from the East Coast Music Awards and 2007's Touring Artist of the Year from the Canadian Arts Presenters Organization. Their self-titled 2007 CD was produced by Danny Blume of Grammy award winning team Good and Evil, and spans eras of influence, shamelessly evoking the work of the bands musical mentors including The Beatles, The Police, The Beach Boys and Queen. http://www.paperlionsmusic.com
WAY TO GO, EINSTEIN is a solid modern rock act that blends superb guitars and piano with creative songwriting. Favourably compared to acts like Muse and Coldplay, they recently released their second CD "Pseudonym". Building on the buzz of their first release "Hide and Seek Champion", their new album promises to bring plenty more attention, stimulated ears, moved souls, and ironic band name loving fans. "Their melodies soar to the heavens, backed by lush beds of reverb-treated guitars and synthesizers" - Georgia Straight http://www.myspace.com/waytogoeinstein
DAVE PHILLIPS - Vancouver singer/songwriter Dave Phillips has just returned home from his latest Irish tour to complete his upcoming self titled EP, the product of a year long collaboration with Grammy award winning producer Ben Mink (kd lang, Feist, Daniel Lanois). In anticipation of the release, Phillips is spreading the word at home as well as across the pond at watering holes throughout the British Isles. With a new band behind him and a record on the way he's just getting started. http://www.myspace.com/davephillipsmusic
