Event Description
. Saturday, April 4th IMU presents SOLARISTS CD Release Party with special guests WINDOWS 78, WAY TO GO EINSTEIN & The FILM INDUSTRY @ The Railway Club, 579 DunsmuirSOLARISTS - Beautiful, mournful and absolutely enthralling, Solarists set listeners adrift in intoxicating melodies and dreamy guitar backdrops that are a little rough around the edges, drawing on indie rock spirit and simplicity. Their new album "Coast Spirit" expands upon the evocative sound of their critically acclaimed debut "The Channel's Twilight", resulting in a vibrant, stronger sound and a broader sonic palette. Recorded at JC/DC Studio by David Carswell and John Collins (New Pornographers, Destroyer), the new songs range from quiet folk-indebted meditations to sprawling guitar and piano-inflected epics. http://www.myspace.com/solarists
WINDOWS '78 dynamically explore a unique fusion of moody, guitar-driven rock and ambient electronica, delivering an innovative sound that appeals equally to humans, Martians and robots. Described as "somewhere between Spiritualized and Pink Floyd" (The Province) and "a new successor to the mantle of melancholy modern rock" (Prairie Dog), their CD "The Window Seat" showcases the premier space rock act as they craft a rich, evocative sound that weaves together melodic guitar lines, subtly deployed electronic loops and masterful playing. http://www.windows78.com
WAY TO GO, EINSTEIN is a solid modern rock act that blends superb guitars and piano with creative songwriting. Favourably compared to acts like Muse and Coldplay, they recently released their second CD "Pseudonym". Building on the buzz of their first release "Hide and Seek Champion", their new album promises to bring plenty more attention, stimulated ears, moved souls, and ironic band name loving fans. "Their melodies soar to the heavens, backed by lush beds of reverb-treated guitars and synthesizers" - Georgia Straight http://www.myspace.com/waytogoeinstein
The FILM INDUSTRY - Combining the liberating power of rock and a hypnotic approach derived from electronic roots, with a zest of jazz for good measure, The Film Industry makes your head nod with their trippy groove-oriented music. Featuring former members of OCEANIC, their electronic groove based music is a fusion of ambient guitars, samples and keyboard textures and take you on an irresistible journey of sound! http://www.myspace.com/thefilmindustry
