Event Description
. Saturday, Jan 31st IMU presents The DREADNOUGHTS, NINJA SPY & The FURY @ PUB 340, 340 Cambie Street . Doors 8pm / Purchase advance tickets directly via the bands and online @ www.imuproductions.comThe DREADNOUGHTS - Experience ball-busting Celt-punk from Vancouver's beloved group of drunken misfits with a pint of pirate-shanty, a shot of Irish melody and a triple-chaser of street punk. The result is a powerful live sound with whirling fiddles, mandolins and accordions inviting you into a world of drink and debauchery. Storytelling lyrics sung with fiery urgency blur the lines between contemporary songs and traditional tunes, possessing all the confidence and muscle of a seasoned outfit in the prime of their career. Imagine Rancid had their tour bus hijacked by a group of inebriated gypsies and you're beginning to understand... be sure to come out and catch these young up-and-comers who opened for The Real McKenzies! http://www.myspace.com/vancitydreadnoughts
NINJA SPY traverses extremes, drawing from genres including ska, funk, grunge, reggae and post hardcore. Their original contagious and emotive "Skankore" hybrid is created by three brothers in constant battle with the Triad of MI (Monotony & Indifference, Malice & Intolerance, Materialism & Ignorance). Infusing their grooves with heart-pounding double-kick and guttural screams, this "Triad in Blood" captures the attention of musicians and music listeners alike. http://www.ninjaspy.net
The FURY is a female-fronted rock group new to the indie scene. Each member of the band has a diverse musical background ranging from classical training to Ska and R&B, contributing an aggressive melodic sense that complements their heavy-hitting playing. Their metal, rock and punk influences definitely take a front seat when it comes to the band's guitar-driven backbone, adding a dose of energy to their upbeat and driving sound. http://www.myspace.com/furytunes
