Event Description
Music by the Sea (MBTS) is in its infancy and plans to become a Banff-Centre-like facility for British Columbia, combining performance and study of music in a think-tank retreat year-round school, and a high quality tourist-destination festival in the summer. They are housed at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, already a learning environment. The stunning Rix Centre for Ocean Discoveries is the venue for concert presentation.Music by the Sea is expanding its third season into an 11-day, 9 concert performance-residency during which local, national, and international artists will create a music-village by the sea.
The Huu-ay-aht First Nation at Pachena Bay British Columbia, are partnering in 2008 with Music by the Sea at Bamfield British Columbia. The Huu-ay-aht First Nation will take part in the festival this summer by partnering three events which are in celebration of British Columbia’s 150 years as a Crown Colony, by showing in real and symbolic ways the spirit of cooperation which has characterized the Huu-ay-aht First nation throughout those generations.
