The DREADNOUGHTS - Ball-busting Celt-punk from Vancouver's newest group of drunken misfits, with a shot of pirate-shanty, a shot of Irish melody and a triple-chaser of street punk. The result is a powerful live sound, with whirling fiddles, mandolins and accordions inviting you into a world of drink and debauchery. Imagine Rancid had their tour bus hijacked by a group of inebriated gypsies... and you're beginning to understand. FUZZCAT - Assembling like the five lions of Voltron, Fuzzcat unified into a tight music-making machine bringing thick beats and ass-shakin' rawk. RIO BENT - These 2004 Georgia Straight Reader's Choice Music Award winners are a young punk-rock-horrorbilly group who are passionately paying their dues on the Vancouver music scene. Allie's fierce lead vocals and bass playing are backed by strong guitar licks and hard-hitting drums, described by the Georgia Straight as sounding "like a teenaged No Doubt after drinking the blood of Rancid." The band's melodic high-energy sound ranges from driving rock ballads to real kick-in-the-teeth punk, with an occasional acoustic song thrown to keep things interesting.
