Event Description
. Friday, September 14th I.M.U. presents LIONS IN THE STREET w/ WHITE LICORICE & MAD SHADOW @ The Bourbon, 50 West Cordova . Doors 7pm / $10 - Purchase advance tickets online at http://www.imuproductions.com/tixLIONS IN THE STREET create rock'n'roll that is fierce and genuine, invoking vintage Stones swagger and raunchy boogie rock 'n' roll with lean attack and ass-kicking rhythmic sense. Formerly known as The Years, the Lions have shared stages with the likes of Jet, Kings of Leon, Ambulance Ltd, The Dirtbombs and The Zutons and "explode with a Stones/Small Faces onslaught that drips with jubilant passion, as well as very loud guitars played with giddy abandon" (Guitar Player Magazine). Michael Corcoran of the Austin American-Statesman extols the Lions as being "the first great band I saw this year at SXSW!" http://www.myspace.com/lionsinthestreet
WHITE LICORICE is a rampaging rock band power-trio based in the Vancouver area, whose rigorous, sweaty, beer soaked late night practices and writing process is fast and loose, with the band settling for nothing less than something amazing. Their kick-ass combination pop, rock, punk and hardcore is a highly concentrated muscular blend of loud guitars and raunchy rock. http://www.whitelicorice.net
MAD SHADOW - Electric, charged and explosive, guitarist Danny Sveinson (also known as The Rock'n'Roll Kid and formerly of the recently disbanded Sonic City) was featured in a popular CBC Newsworld documentary. He inherited his love of classic guitar-rock from his dad's vinyl stash and by March of 2004 had became the youngest person to ever play the Commodore Ballroom, opening for Colin James. Be sure to check out his newest project Mad Shadow this special evening! http://www.myspace.com/madshadowband
