Event Description
. Saturday, August 4th IMU presents CRYSTAL PISTOL CD PREVIEW SHOW -- ALL NEW SONGS FROM UPCOMING SECOND ALBUM!! w/ MARYS' GUNNS & The BELUSHIS @ The Lamplighter, 210 Abbott Street . Doors 9pm / $10 AdvanceCrystal Pistol's second coming of a double barreled rawkin' ass whuppin' is HERE! Addictive, contagious, dangerous & sexy, this 5 piece beats a path of destruction and takes you straight to rock'n'roll hell! Abandon all hope for your soul - be sure to come out and hear all CP's newest songs this evening! Our fav boy band is joined by kick-ass guests Mary's Gunns & The Belushis!
CRYSTAL PISTOL - A full-scale epidemic of raw, potent and highly addictive rock 'n' roll, Crystal Pistol are Canada's answer to Velvet Revolver, with songs made of good old heavy rock'n'roll guitar riffs and touches of glam metal. Their followers and converts testify that a CP live show is like being greeted at Eternity's Gate, with earthly existence being blown away in guitar choruses that lift them up on wings. WARNING!!! this band is highly addictive and extremely hazardous to your health!
MARY'S GUNNS - More metal than GnR, more laid-back than Megadeth, more Southern than Motley Crue, and more Northern than AC/DC, Marys Gunns pick up where the 80s heavyweights left off and scream new life into classic rock. Their music is in no way just a retro trend or merely derivative, it is instead a continuation, expansion and addition to a balls-to-the-wall rock and roll tradition. As the bastard sons of Axl and Slash, Steve and Joe, Ozzy and Tony, Angus and Bon, Page and Plant, their sound is deeply rooted in the music they grew up banging their heads to.
The BELUSHIS - Imagine a freight train loaded with 5 tonnes of explosives, 4 tonnes of guitar amplifiers and 3 tonnes of liquor barreling right towards you, and you have a hint of the band known as the Belushis. From their very first show they've drawn out the party animal in audiences, provoking them into frantic, sweat-filled frenzies. Their latest album "Thunderballs" features vocals from all four band members and continues the songwriting tradition with songs about women, drinking, rocking, and bringing down the establishment. Their explosive live shows and recordings have led to the Belushis being paired with some of the best touring and local acts on the road today, including The Bellrays, Atomic Bitchwax, Valis (ex- Screaming Trees), The Beladeans and Rich Hope & His Evil Doers, while earning favourable comparisons to the Stooges and MC5. This band is best listened to when horny, sweaty, and drenched in cheap bourbon.
