Event Description
. Saturday, September 29th I.M.U. presents BISON, SPRËAD EAGLE, GRASS CITY & WHYTE HOTT @ The Media Club, 695 Cambie. Doors 8pm / $10 Advance . $12 Cover at the door - Purchase advance tickets online at http://www.imuproductions.com/tixBISON - Hailed by Nerve Magazine as "hands-downs the best metal band in Vancouver", Bison's intense, sinister sound is forged by four musicians: James Gnarwell on guitar & vocals (formerly of S.T.R.E.E.T.S.), Brad on drums (ex-Radio Berlin and Fuck Me USA), Dan on guitar/vocals and Masa Anzai on bass (Karen Foster, Goatsblood). The band's heavy blend of smokin' rock has had them compared to the Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Thunderpussy, Sabbath, Brand New Sin, Kyuss & Fu Manchu. As quoted on their MySpace page: "forget about your life for a moment and bang your f*#king head!" http://www.myspace.com/bisoneastvan
SPRËAD EAGLE - With their three guitar attack and brutal onslaught of '70s-inspired hard rock, these five visionaries who hail from Mission, B.C., have graced the stage with the likes of The Misfits, Speedealer, Bad Wizard, The Cherry Valence and Nashville Pussy. Their lethal combination of rock prowess slays crowds with both originals & covers.Taking equal parts of the brainless thud of AC/DC, the reckless abandon of the dwarves, the sonic onslaught that is Mötorhead, and eagerly blending it with their own unique musical nuances, they have created the aural revelation known as "SprëadEagle". http://www.spreadeagle.ca
GRASS CITY is a cathartic, foot-stompin' jug of musical moonshine -- soul-stirring Southern Doom Blues of the highest order. Their live show is a bruising, head-thrashing, tear-jerking experience that bulldozes the audience into heavenly oblivion with a thick Skynyrd-esque three-guitar assualt, scratched whiskey vocals and a Sabbathian worship of the Riff. It sounds like rock and roll savin' your soul, the sound of meat hittin' the grill. It sounds like goddamn GRASS CITY! http://www.myspace.com/grasscity
WHYTE HOTT - Fueled by 151 proof alcohol, Whyte Hott are a band of robots in disguise with a multitude of diverse influences that include guitarmony, metal, long hair, skulls, journeys and quests, cheap/free sex, liquor stores, 31 year old moms and their daughters, 80s marshalls and hot shot neon guitars. They're also inspired by quick and dirty guitar solos, trashy girls, older girls with credit cards, grocery stores with no cameras, jack daniels, parties, and the years 1984, 1988 and 1989. http://www.myspace.com/whytehott
