Event Description
. Saturday, March 17th IMU presents SAINT PADDY'S DAY PARTY w/ The DREADNOUGHTS, The FURIOS, HEADWATER & The PANIC @ The MEDIA CLUB, 695 Cambie . 8pm / $10 Advance Tickets @ Zulu, Scratch, Red Cat or online at http://www.imuproductions.com/tixIf you are in search of some St Paddy's Day blarney, you will certainly find it here with silver tongued devils delivering debauched tunes that will have you drunkenly swaying and stomping to the music as you gargle green ale and search for a leprechaun whose magical pot will certainly gift you with a multitude of golden pints!
The DREADNOUGHTS - Ball-busting Celt-punk from Vancouver's newest group of drunken misfits, with a shot of pirate-shanty, a shot of Irish melody and a triple-chaser of street punk. The result is a powerful live sound, with whirling fiddles, mandolins and accordions inviting you into a world of drink and debauchery. Imagine Rancid had their tour bus hijacked by a group of inebriated gypsies... and you're beginning to understand. Be sure to come out and catch these young up-and-comers who recently opened for The Real McKenzies! http://www.myspace.com/vancitydreadnoughts
The FURIOS deliver an irresistible blend of ska, reggae, and catchy punk with solid, memorable vocals and empowering, danceable anthems that range from head bobbin' slow skanks to all out, full throttle, pedal-to-the-metal ska romps. Featuring a three piece horn section complemented by distinct songwriters and vocalists, The Furios shine the brightest when seen and heard live. The six piece band rocks, jumps, bumps and dances through set after set creating a party atmosphere that has made them a favorite with audiences. With 11 Canadian tours under their belt and dates on last year's Vans Warped Tour, The Furios have shared stages with The Real McKenzies, Fishbone, Bedouin Soundclash, The Planet Smashers, DOA, The Smugglers and many others. http://www.thefurios.com
HEADWATER - Ever think Jack Johnson could use some edge? Ever think country music could use a little less 'twang?' Headwater is the acoustic bluegrass band you've been waiting to hear. They're the soundtrack to wild weekends and late nights and they're gonna get your boots stomping! http://www.headwaterband.com
The PANIC bring thumping tunes, sanded chaos, a dancefloor and somewhere to be lost. Damn fine dirty ska-rock with evil funk inflections and a dose of unabashed twang. The Panic isn't about shoe-gazing or chronic heartache, glitz or splashy effects. The lyrics spring neither from a well of bottomless rage nor from an unquenchable need to shed vain tears. Bring dancing shoes and a will to move... fuel those moments with great songs and the right attitude. http://www.famousape.com
