Event Description

The first resident professional string quartet on the University of British Columbia campus, the Borealis has already established itself as a leading-edge Canadian ensemble.

In less than two years they have been engaged by the prestigious Vancouver Chamber Music Festival as one of three resident string quartets, qualified for the BC-Yukon finals of the Great Canadian Music Dream competition on CBC-TV, and embarked on a new season with a thirty-two concert tour of BC, Alberta and Ontario. They have also been featured in numerous broadcasts for the CBC and Radio-Canada

The Borealis String Quartet consists of four young Canadian professionals, Patricia Shih and Yuel Yawney, violins, Nikita Pogrebnoy, viola and Joel Stobbe, cello.
