Kingston Meistersingers
"The Kingston Meistersingers, based in Kingston, Ontario, is a charitable community theatre group dedicated to producing musical productions that involve the talents and skills of participants of all ages."
"The Meistersingers were founded in 1968 by a group of well-known Kingston singers and actors who were keen on seeing a permanent community based musical theatre company in the Kingston area. The late Jeanne Pengelly, who was a well known Toronto voice teacher, choral director, and member of the Metropolitan Opera Company, was the driving force behind the idea. With a little start up money the group put together their first musical, Tom Jones…and in the years following produced one show a year, mostly Gilbert and Sullivan classics, and then moved into some other favourite pantomimes and operettas over the following years."
