Yeasayer is an experimental band based in Brooklyn, New York. Live performances sometimes include psychedelic visuals projected in the background.The band members are Anand Wilder, Chris Keating, and Ira Wolf Tuton. Their music has been self-described as "Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel".
The band first came to national attention after appearing at the SXSW festival in early 2007. Yeasayer toured with MGMT and Man Man during the spring of 2008 in the United States and Europe. They have also played the Hove Festival 2008, Lollapalooza 2008 in Chicago's Grant Park, Austin City Limits Festival 2008, Reading/Leeds Festival 2008 on the NME/BBC1 stage, at the Pavillion Stage at Roskilde Festival 2008, at Pitchfork Music Festival 2009, provided support to Beck on the European leg of his Modern Guilt tour in Summer 2008, played at Bonnaroo in 2009, and performed at Rock the Garden 2009 in Minneapolis' Walker Art Center.Yeasayer recently revealed in an interview with Pitchfork that they had finished their sophomore album and it would be released on February 09, 2010. There are four new songs they've been playing live; the four new songs are "Madder Red", "O.N.E.", "I Remember", and "Amblin' Alp". Yeasayer played the Guggenheim Museum on October 30, 2009.
On October 30th, 2009 Yeasayer revealed details for the first single release from "Odd Blood" entitled "Ambling Alp" and in an interview with Dummy, Yeasayer spoke about the recording of Odd Blood, reporting that several mice had been killed during its recording in rural upstate New York, and that the sound was more clear than the previous record.
The new album, "Odd Blood", leaked December 10th, 2009. Acknowledging this, the band posted on their Twitter page, "Presents are always spoiled for those who open them before they are supposed to."
