He sings through a 1930s-style telephone headset, creating a crackly intonation as if he's calling out destinations at a train station. He's lately realized a longterm goal and added a CB for his guitar microphone. "It gives it a nice, mid-rangey sound," Slim said. "It's a completely self-sustained unit now, where I don't have to use any equipment from the bar. It frees me up as far as moving around a little bit more."
