The Duhks

The Duhks are a young folk band hailing from Winnipeg Manitoba, which is located where the wind stops at the east end of the Canadian Prairies. Their show is a pure, unrestrained and dynamic presentation of traditional and contemporary acoustic music designed to make you kick up your feet and party. Their harmony of the Celts mixes with Appalachian Old Time fiddle music, with French-Canadian Gigues & Reels, with some of the songs of the great songwriters of the last century and with new songs and tunes written by themselves and by their friends. The Duhks are a unique collection of young people from a wide variety of experiences and backgrounds. What they all have in common is that the whole damn collection come from families where playing folk music was a major part of life. These guys & gals have been stepping over their instruments since birth and that becomes obvious from the moment they begin to play. It's the mixture of youth and technical skill that fuels the energy that's always present when you attend a Duhk's show.
